The stunning Book Lounge brings Karl Lagerfeld's passion for books to life. The spectacular area is spacious and elegant, serving a playful yet refined menu of tea sandwiches, French confectioneries and signature KL éclairs. Over 4,000 books line the shelves, each of which was selected individually from Karl's own 7L bookshop in Paris.
The hotel's Spa, as well as its indoor and outdoor swimming pools, fuse fashion, luxury and beauty to provide guests with the ultimate in self-care. A one-of-a-kind jade installation, inspired by a small jade piece Karl found at an antique store, embodies the Chinese aesthetic, creating an interior that is as indulgent as the experience provided in each of the Spa's six treatment suites.
KARL'S DESIGN VISION REALIZED
Karl Lagerfeld's intense passion for design followed him throughout his life and this breathtaking property epitomizes that. The hotel and its design were deeply personal for him, and he was adamant that he would never design a space he would not live in himself. Small details underline his influence, from chairs on-site similar to those in his office to the use of an orchid motif throughout, his favorite flower.
It was the last design project he undertook and his commitment to detail and expansive talent are clear – he hand-picked every element, from the extravagant room décor and large-scale installations to minute details like bathrobes and bedsheets. The result is a lavish interior that embodies a unique blend of Eastern and Western design. A fitting representation of the late designer's brilliance.
